This has been another good week in salt. During the someone brought a Portuguese Man of War to us from the beach. That's right it's jellyfish season!! Australia is famous for their deadly animals in and out of the water and now is the time when the jellies like to strike in full force. As far as I know there are no super deadly ones around the sunny coast so you can just turn that little worry machine you like to call a brain right off.
Some point during the week I went out for a turtle release. Now you may recall the first and only other time I have gone out on the ocean I got very sea sick. You may be asking yourself why on earth would I go on on the boat again if I got so sick the first time? Well you see, someone told me that I would find a potato in my shoe if I went out on this excursion. *narrows eyes* Lies, all of them lies. I was told it would be really flat. Unfortunately we left an hour later and it wasn't so flat. It wasn't so bad but it was enough to make me a little sick. We released the turtle and then went back to the harbor. Oh land, dry land!! Oh blessed it is to walk with certainty of your stability!!
On Thursday the zone leader of of salt invited people from work over to her house for dinner. She let me ride home with her, which was very nice, I took mom's salsa that I made several weeks ago and I think I was the only one that really liked it. Two other people had some but I had the most. YUM! Everyone brought some kind of dish. It was pretty good minus them talking down about the people that weren't there. One of them they really don't like and she quit but everyone is pretending not to know. I don't think this girl is too bad but no one really seems to like her. I have only been in Australia for almost ten weeks so maybe she gets worse the longer you know her. I don't know. Everyone stayed until about 9 before they headed home. That was a little bit too long for me but one of the boys from fresh was giving me a ride home so I had to wait until he was ready to go. I felt kind of awkward the whole time because I had nothing to say to their conversations and they kept making awkward comments about what I must be thinking and crap. I'm glad that I don't really work here. There is just way too much drama and I don't want to be apart of it. People who talk behind others back really makes you wonder what they say about you when you're not around. I wonder how much they all hate me when I'm not in the same room?
Saturday I went swimming and as I was about waist deep wadding into the wave, I saw these two blue blobby jellyfish riding the wave towards me. Having learned about how dangerous the jellies are in Oz I turned on my heels and began booking it back to the beach screaming "FLEE!! FLEE! RETREAT!!" in my head of course. I'm not as crazy as I occasionally am portrayed by Kelcie's stories. I looked around and no one else seemed to mind that there were jellies in the water. Everyone was laughing and playing, wave jumping, and enjoying the cool ocean water. Obviously Ozians have had one too many jellies wrapped around their noggin because I know I wasn't hallucinating, this time. I decided to brave the waters again, but near one of the crazy Ozians. There were no jellies there, but there were these weird roundish jelly blobs in the water everywhere. Leo, the Australian jelly expert, informed me that they were jellies even tho they had no tentacles because not all jellies have tentacles. Good thing he knows so much about the animals of countries he hates :) What a useful guy :)
After that I came back and I walked down the street with Maureen and Andrew to a neighborhood Christmas party. Maureen let her little deaf toy poodle, Bunnie, of the lease to hang out with the other dogs. Bunnie started going home and Maureen, with sparking wine in hand, started to chase after her. Maureen bent over to grab Bunnie but ended up face planting it into the street. She cut her nose and split her lip. Andrew took her to the hospital because she was really worried about it. After three hours waiting they didn't do anything and told her to come back tomorrow to get her nose x-rayed to see if she broke it. Her nose and upper lip are really swollen and she's getting a black eye. That was my weekend.
Since I didn't get to see most of you Thanksgiving day I'd like you to know I am thankful for all the support and love you have given me over the years and some of you continue to give ;) I hope everyone had a great turkey day. Well, I'm peacing out. Ciao bella.

ReplyDeleteI just barely read this blog! It was good. And by the way you are always as crazy as you are in my stories, you're like a flying wagon you're so crazy! I hope you stole that groovy car thing for me!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThose jelly fish are so cool! Especially that blue one. I bet that party was awkward. Too bad some people have to talk about others to "hide" their own securities and pride. Sounds like you are grateful to be working where you are. Is the fresh a different area in the place you are working? I hope Maureen is recovering and she didn't have a broken nose. How painful!
