Aren't I so nice giving you this break from that constant facebook stalking? I know that facebook blue really gets old so enjoy the nice tie-dye of my way-groovier-than-facebook-blog. Instead of liking this post you should make sure you come back again so can get a good healthy dose of groovy hilariousness. You can always guarantee it'll be a funny post, because I'm funnier than people who are funny for a living. Now that's saying something!!
Thank you one and all (well, only those of you who sent a birthday car, email, or messaged me) for the birthday emails :) I really appreciate them and can't wait to see you sometime after 10 days from now. Woot!! I cannot even freakin wait!!! For my birthday the people at work were super nice and got me a cake. One of the seal trainers made me a necklace and later that night most people from work met up at this burger place to share my birthday night with me. Reno and clan gave me a card and some Oz candies. Jesse and Jess bought me Belgium chocolates and a card. It was a very nice day :) I worked with the seals on my birthday and was able to get a bunch of pictures with two of my favorite seals.
I've been kinda busy the last week or two. March 7-10 I flew down to Sydney and had a look around. That is one cool city!!! However, I don't think I could live there. An international co-worker of my dad's (which would also be an international co-worker of Uncle Shan, Aunt Tara, and Uncle Perry's. Horray for Nu Skin! Shan's very favorite past-time and location!) let me stay with him and his family at his house about an hour outside of Sydney. Friday he took me to work (yay Nu Skin!) and I rode the train into town and had a wander up to the Rocks, which is the oldest part of Sydney. There I got a map and went through a free museum. I then bought ferry ticket to Taronga Zoo. It was fan-freakin-tastic!!!!! Not only was it gorgeous but it was such a neat zoo! Lots of animals to be seen in a really cool place! After the zoo I took another ferry to an island just out of Sydney harbor called Manly(heheheh ya know many? hehehehe). I tried to go to the aquarium there but got there 15 mins too late. One of my friends from work gave me three passes to go to some of the Merlin owned attractions in Sydney(there are 5 Merlin attractions). So I explored Manly and visited the beach for an hour before heading back to the mainland and checking out the opera house and the botanic gardens. Both were beautiful(more so the gardens but that goes without saying. Sorry dad. I guess this means Kelcie will be getting my fifth of the inheritance)!!! Saturday Paul took me down to Bondi beach with his family and then took me to the airport. Reno's husband, Earl, works for a company that does helicopter tours and he was able to get me a tour for free. It was SO SUPER COOL!!! Though I do have to say that I was glad it was a smooth day because I got a little chopper sick by the end. Weak sauce I know. Kinda like watered down ranch dressing. But only wheirdos like ranch dressing *cough cough El Tovar cough cough*. I gave two of my tickets to the couple who were on the copter ride with me because on the ride my camera died and they said they'd email me the photos. They've yet to do said kind deed.....but oh well. I had one ticket that I used to get into the aquarium in Darling Harbor. That also was amazing. So much better than where I work. Not much competition, though honestly. Using my awesome social skills I had one of the staff members offer to let me into the zoo at the end of the pier. It was small but cool. Sunday I did a whole lot of not much. I went to a war memorial(Anzac memorial) and that's about it. Just wandered around a lot trying to kill time before my flight. Overall it was an awesome trip and I really enjoyed my stay :) For those visual people, click here.
For some strange reason Paul's little kids really liked me.....they were 2, 4, and 6 years old. I was glad to leave that house. Mostly the kids though. Sorry Trist but I don't think I'm going to be a very good aunt. I guess it's a good thing you have three other sisters that are DYING to be aunts ;)
I've just returned from Fraser Island and it was fantastic!!! I got picked up early in the morning and we drove north up the coast and crossed over to the island via a ferry. We then drove on really bad sandy rodes to Lake Mackenzie It was a very pretty lake. We had lunch there and then drove to Central station where we walked along a boardwalk in the subtropical rainforest. It was really pretty and very nice. There was a creek there that made no noise at all. The natives had named it the silent creek. After that we stopped on the beach for a while next to a fresh water stream that was red from all the bark from the nearby trees. It was so cool watching it mix with the ocean. While we were out we saw some dingos, a bunch of lizards, kangaroos, and some wild horses. It was an awesome day!! Have a look here.
When I was at Taronga zoo in Sydney, this Pakistani guy randomly came up to me and in horrible english that was very heavily accented started telling me that it was really hard and scary going around the zoo alone and it was hard to get anywhere because of all the people. I just looked at him said yeah and started walking away. He followed me and asked if I was with a group. Very naively I answered no which he very excitedly asked me if it was also hard and scary for me. I told him not really and tried to walk away again. He asked if he could come with me. Trying to disuade him from following me I told him that I would be going to Manly which he replied without missing a beat, "Can I come with you?" This shocked me so much that I told him I guess if he wanted to. This must have been what he wanted to hear because he looked like he was going to hug me right there on the spot so I very quickly walked away cursing under my breath at how stupid I am and wishing I had a certain Irish lad with me to keep this yellow toothed weirdo away. He followed me around for an hour or two despite my silence and my quick glances at the animals. He insisted on getting a picture with me and one just by myself and told me that I was forever saved on his memory, I was beautiful, and even told me I was like an angel to him. At one point he was trying to get me to stay at his house saying that his house was open to me and that I could stay with him and if things didn't work out with the people I was already staying with I could stay with him.*pulls finger pistol trigger and kills self* I don't know why I couldn't freakin tell him to leave me alone. I think I might suffer from a slight case of niceness or something I didn't know was contagious but I guess I should have expected catching some kind of disease when traveling abroad and living in a foreign country. I finally was able to ditch him by getting on the cable car(kinda like a closed up ski lift) something he didn't have a ticket for. Maybe this qualifies me for the leading role in Mean Girls, but I oh well. I'm just hoping that my niceness and meanness cancel each other out so that I can just get back to being me, a little ray of sunshine ;)
That crazy sound I had on my last blog was a Kookaburra laughing. I think that either many people couldn't hear the sound or else you all are a horrible audience and get a zero for participation. Bad students. To me the noise sounds kinda like monkey's having a crazy party in the bush but it's just a couple of birds telling jokes about zebras.
A zebra dies and goes to heaven where he meets up with one of his zebra friends. They are just chilling, talking about life on earth when the first zebra says to his friend, "You know what I've always wondered? Are we white with black stripes or black with white stripes?" The zebra and his friend talk about it for a while when finally the friend says, "You know, you should go ask God this question. He'd know and then we could finally clear up this mystery." "That's a great idea!" exclaims the zebra, so he makes an appointment to see God. The next day he is brought before God and zebra asks, "God, I was wondering. Am I white with black with white stripes?" After what feels like ten minutes of extended nervous silence God finally answers, "Son, you are what you are." Before the zebra can ask what kind of vague mumbo jumbo answer that is he is rushed out of the room and into the hall. The zebra starts going off on the mysterious God and how his answer doesn't make any sense. A guard over hears the zebra's frustration and asks what he's question was and what God's answer was. "That's easy!! You're white with black stripes!" exclaims the guard after the zebra tells him what happened. "How do you figure?" asks the zebra. The guard explained,"Well, if you were black with white stripes, God would have said to you,'Son you is what you is.'"
In a week I will officially be done with my internship and will be 22 hours away from heading home. As I type I have 7 days 22 hours and 28 minutes until I get to go home, but it's not like I'm keeping track of the seconds or anything. Leo will be there soon and he's pretty excited but nervous as well, despite what he tells you. It'll be awesome to have everyone one I miss together :) I can't wait!! Well, until that timer reaches 0, this is me signing out!!
