Shadows, Salty Ones

So where did I leave you off last?................If I remember right last I posted it was Saturday. So Sunday  I also spent time at the beach. I actually went swimming in the ocean. The lifeguard's board said the water was about 72 degrees but the only thing I noticed at first was how freakin salty the water was!!! Now, before all you smarty farties start going off on me, YES I knew the ocean was salty BUT I was not expecting it to be THAT salty. I mean crunchatize me Cap'n!! It was like eating popcorn salted by Tristan all over again!!! Because of the salt and I eventually got pretty cold, I ended up getting out and just reading on my towel for a bit. It was very nice. I made my way back to the house where I talked to my sisters and parents. Good job mom and crew for getting lost. I'm pretty sure that only Morris's can get lost while having a GPS. *golf clap* Oh and good job sisters for lying to Andrew about toilets. Poor man, *shakes head* I don't know if he'll ever be able to trust an American again....

So I've seen some cool animals just about here so I decided to show pictures.

Saw a gecko on the veranda the first day, it was super tiny

Monday was my first day of my internship and overall it was pretty good. It wore me right out but I think it's going to be pretty good. It definitely didn't start out good tho. The supervisor, Kate, emailed me and said to meet her outside at eight in the morning. At 8:15 I got the attention of a worker and asked for Kate. When she came she told me that I was earlier than she expected and I told her about the email. Apparently last Friday they re-opened a part of the park that had been closed for 10 months under construction and it was a chaotic mess. I don't have any pictures of anything but I hope to at some point. Anyway, she kind showed me around a bit introduced me to WAY too many people and then left me with a girl nicknamed Reno to show me about the rest of the day. I was helping Reno clean out a tank by holding a hose in this bucket that was on this sideless wagon thing. It holds two bucket on it, which after we filled we dumped. We were filling up the buckets for a second time when the strangest thing started to happen. Just as I went to move the hose to the second bucket when the frist bucket started moving away from me. By the time I realized that the dolly wagon thing was tipping and the bucket was falling, it was too late to stop the bucket as it splashed half of its contents out on the newly cleaned carpet 15 minutes before opening time. Yay me!

One of the other girls, Kathy, took me to dump the rest of the bucket, put things away, and clean out the dry vac. She opened up the vac and took out the plug in the bottom and and told me to wash it all out. I started washing it out and she told me that she was going to be right back but needed to grab some sponges. She left and I started spraying down the inside of the vac and noticed there was lots of sand in it so I started spraying it out. There was a drain in room where the water drained leaving sand on the floor after I finished. No soon did I finish then some men came in the room and set something heavy down. One of the men asked me something but it sounded more like a foreign grumbly mumble. I kinda just stood there staring at him like a deer caught in headlights not knowing if he was talking to me and if so what the freak he said. I finally decided he had asked me a question and I asked him what he said. Pretty much he asked me if I had dumped the sand on the floor and I said I had. He told me that I shouldn't have and needed to clean it up and he'd show me where to put it. Awesome. I began wondering what other messes I was going to be making that day and if they were going to still want me to intern for them after this day. So after some usage of limited brain power I was able to figure out how to put the shop vac back together and turn it on but it wasn't sucking hard enough to get the sand so I turned it off and asked a random man to help me. He checked that it was plugged in and then turned it on. After feeling how little sucking power it had and how it didn't suck up the sand he handed it back to me and said, "Here you go." So I just stayed in the room smearing the dirty across the floor into a wet pile since nothing was going to be sucked up. It turns out that guy was wrong and we just washed it down the drain. Phew!! The rest of the day went a lot better.

In other news, it has come to my attention that Kermit was killed. It is suspected that someone pushed him off his resting area to his death. If anyone knows anything about the death of Kermit please call Deidre.

The little toy poodle here eats better than a lot of people. Every night they cook her up some meat and give it to her. Chicken, beef, lamb, anything but it usually looks decent as well. The tv is also left on all for the dog as everyone is away. People are different for sure.

I will let you know more about my internship later when I know more of what I'll be doing. Until then take care one and all.

  1. Way to make a bunch of messes sister! ;) Sounds like a pretty typical first day of an internship to me. Why can't those things ever go well? I hope Tuesday and Wednesday went a bit more smoothly and were a lot of fun. Keep enjoying it there in the Land down under. P.S. I heard Ramble On By Led Zeplin yesterday and it reminded me of driving around with you in your green Subaru that smelled of Asian lady. =D

    K bye
